ACT Policing has seized two vehicles after an unaccompanied learner driver and a provisional licence holder were caught street racing in Greenway on Saturday night.

About 11.10pm on Saturday (11 April 2026), police were travelling in an unmarked vehicle on Drakeford Drive when they observed two Volkswagen Jetta sedans racing each other. During the incident, both vehicles reached speeds of up to 148 km/h in an 80 km/h zone, prior to officers conducting a traffic stop.

Both vehicles were seized and the drivers, both 18-year-old men, will be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.

ACT Policing reminds all drivers of their obligations towards road safety for themselves and others, and antisocial and dangerous driving behaviour will not be tolerated. Drivers who engage in dangerous driving, burnouts, or street racing will be targeted and offenders will be put before the court.

Members of the public are encouraged to upload dash‑cam or mobile phone footage of driving offences, including dangerous driving, road rage, careless driving, mobile phone, red‑light and seatbelt offences, to the ACT Policing online reporting portal  here.
