ACT Policing has charged one teenager, and another will be summonsed following a city disturbance involving knives yesterday evening.
About 7pm on Saturday (4 April 2026), police received multiple reports of a group of youths fighting on City Walk, where a knife was allegedly brandished.
Police attended the area shortly afterwards and observed two girls and two boys entering a vehicle, with one of the youths bleeding. The vehicle was stopped and searched.
During the search, police located two knives in one backpack, and cannabis, clip‑seal bags and scales in another.
A review of CCTV footage from the area depicted one of the youths, a 16‑year‑old boy, allegedly carrying one of the knives during the incident. He was arrested and charged with possessing an offensive weapon with intent, possessing a prohibited weapon, and committing an act to cause public alarm. He is expected to face the ACT Childrens Court next month.
A second 16‑year‑old boy was arrested, and he will be summonsed to face court at a later date for drug‑related offences.
Investigations are continuing to identify other young people involved in the altercation. ACT Policing continues to take reports of youths carrying knives or weapons in public places extremely seriously.
