A 43-year-old former retail manger will face court after he allegedly assaulted and committed indecent acts on two teenage employees in 2017.
In October 2017, police will allege the man committed acts of indecency on two teenage girls at his residence in O’Connor.
The man, who was 35 years old at the time of the alleged offences, and the teenage girls were employed by a large retail chain store in Belconnen.
He was their direct manager, and police will allege he used his position at the store to change shifts so he could work with the girls.
The incident was initially reported to police in 2021 and later finalised without charge.
In response to the Sexual Assault (Police) Review, ACT Policing established Operation Foster in February 2023 to reinvestigate sexual assault matters. With the support of the complainants, the matter was reopened for investigation and in March 2026, the man was issued with a summons to appear before court.
The man is expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 23 April 2026), charged with two counts of acts of indecency with a young person under special care, one count of common assault, and one count of an act of indecency with a person under 16 years.
Anyone with information about the behaviour of this man while he was employed at the retail chain store is urged to contact police on 131 444, quoting 6804503.
If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, you can report to police by attending a police station or calling 131 444.
