Following a seven-month investigation, police have charged a 29-year-old Symonston man and a 22-year-old Gungahlin woman, both who were subject to existing bail conditions, regarding their alleged involvement in drug trafficking across Canberra.

In August (2025), police received information about a 29-year-old man who was allegedly drug trafficking. Police obtained further information and identified a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly working with the man.

Police commenced an investigation into the drug trafficking syndicate and in October (2025) police executed a search warrant at the man’s residence in Symonston. The man was not present as he was remanded in custody for unrelated offences, however, the woman was present. During the search police seized large quantities of illicit and controlled drugs and $8,650 in cash.

In November (2025), the woman was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement in the drug trafficking syndicate. She was remanded in custody at the time and released on bail in December (2025).

In December (2025), the man’s ex-girlfriend informed police of a family violence incident that occurred in June where the woman was experiencing a medical episode and the man allegedly administered the woman a prescription medication.

The man was released from custody on bail last week (Thursday, 9 April 2026).

About 2am on 4 April (2026), the woman collided with a streetlight and was seen by witnesses throwing a bag into the bushes on Gungahlin Drive in Kaleen.

Police attended the collision and located the bag that was found to contain pharmaceutical medication and a notebook believed to contain information about the sale of drugs.

About 2pm on Monday (13 April 2026), police attended an address is Braddon and arrested the woman.  She faced the ACT Magistrates Court the following day (Wednesday, 14 April 2026) charged with weapon possession, drive without due care, drive without proper control and two counts of drug supply. She was remanded in custody.

Yesterday (Thursday, 16 April 2026), police executed a second search warrant at the man’s residence in Symonston. During the search police seized more than 60 drug items including trafficable quantities of methylamphetamine, LSD and a large amount of pharmaceutical drugs.

A woman was located unconscious in the man’s unit during the search with ACT Ambulance Service paramedics attending after the woman admitted consuming methylamphetamine and 1,4-butanediol.

Officers identified evidence of drug importations from overseas.

Officers also served a 3LA order on the man’s electronic devices which he failed to comply with.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged with family violence and multiple drug related charges including 11 counts of drug supply, 3 counts of traffic in controlled drug other than cannabis and possessing a commercial quantity of vaping goods. He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 17 April 2026).

Enquiries are continuing, with further charges expected to be laid.
