A 26-year-old man is expected to face court today after allegedly stealing a vehicle and crashing it into two houses in Holt overnight.
About 12:15am this morning (Thursday, 23 April 2026), police received a report that a vehicle had driven through the front fence of a Holt property. A short time later, police received a second report of a similar incident at another nearby residence, where the vehicle drove into a garage. No residents were physically injured.
When officers arrived, they observed extensive damage to both properties. Police will allege the force of the first collision caused items inside the home to be displaced, including a refrigerator being knocked over.
At both incidents the man fled the scene in the vehicle.
CCTV from the second residence captured the incident and showed the driver and the vehicle. Police later attended the address of the vehicle’s registered owner and located the vehicle in the driveway with significant damage and the airbags deployed.
Officers entered the property and located the vehicle’s owner and a man believed to have been driving at the time of the collisions. Police allege the man matched the description seen in the CCTV and he was arrested.
Police spoke with the vehicle’s owner, who told police she knew the man but was not aware he was inside her home until she was woken by officers. She also said she did not know her vehicle had been taken.
Following a medical episode, the man was transported from the ACT Watch House to hospital.
The man is expected have a bedside hearing today charged with four counts of damage property, one count of trespass, take motor vehicle without consent, drive motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving and unauthorised entry of a motor vehicle.
