A 42-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been charged following dangerous driving in Dickson early this morning.
About 2am (Thursday, 2 April 2026), police observed a white Kia Sportage parked on Wilshire Street, Dickson.
When the driver noticed police, he drove off. Officers directed him to stop but he failed to do so.
The Kia was later seen on Macarthur Avenue, where the driver again refused to stop for police, travelling at 140km/h in an 80km/h zone.
The vehicle then left the road and drove onto a greenbelt for a short distance before it collided with a tree.
The man and woman attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended by police a short distance away.
A search of the pair and the vehicle uncovered small amounts of substances suspected to be methamphetamine, and GHB, and a pair of knuckle dusters.
The man, who was subject to bail conditions, was charged with failing to stop for police, aggravated dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
The woman, who was subject to an arrest warrant, was charged with possessing a drug of dependence and possessing a prohibited weapon.
