ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) has charged a 49‑year‑old man following an investigation into allegations he sexually abused his young daughter.
Police will allege the abuse occurred between 2013 and 2018 at the man’s residence in Wanniassa.
In August 2023, police received a report about the alleged assaults and commenced an investigation.
Police attempted to locate the man, who was believed to be in Victoria and New South Wales. A warrant for his arrest was issued in March 2024.
In May 2025, investigators were advised by NSW Police that the man had been arrested for an unrelated matter and remanded in custody.
Following the completion of that matter, an extradition order was granted for the man to be transferred to the ACT from Western Sydney earlier this month (2 April 2026). He appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.
The man is scheduled to reappear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 17 April 2026), charged with persistent sexual abuse of a child under special care and an act of indecency against a child under 10 years of age.
If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, you can report to police by attending a police station or calling 131444.
You can also submit an online report for historical sexual assault for incidents that occurred more than six months ago.
