A 37-year-old Ainslie man has been arrested after causing extensive damage at a veterinary clinic in Canberra’s north and stealing pharmaceutical drugs.
At about 1am yesterday (Thursday 16 April), police received a report of a burglary at a Lyneham veterinary clinic.
Police allege the man smashed the front entry of the vet hospital with a fire extinguisher before ransacking the premises and filling a bin with veterinary pharmaceutical products with an estimated value of $15,000.
The man also caused extensive damage to the laboratory area of the hospital.
Due to the amount of damage, the vet hospital was forced to close on Thursday.
ACT Policing and AFP Forensics attended the scene and following police enquiries a 37-year-old Ainslie man was arrested early this morning (Friday 17 April) following a minor theft incident at a licenced club in Dickson.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with aggravated burglary, theft and minor theft.
