ACT Policing is alerting Canberrans of traffic disruptions tomorrow due to National Police Remembrance Day.
On Monday afternoon (29 September 2025) roads in Barton and Parkes will be closed to facilitate activities for National Police Remembrance Day:
- Kings Avenue – both directions: King George Terrace to Parkes Way (including the Kings Avenue bridge): 4pm to 5pm.
- Blackall Street – both directions: Broughton Street to Kings Avenue: 3pm to 5pm.
- Wendouree Drive – Both directions: Kings Avenue to the National Carillon: All-day.
Drivers who find themselves at a road closure are reminded to obey the directions of police and traffic controllers – diversion and detours will be in place. If delayed, drivers should not break road rules (including crossing verges, paths or median strips). Disruptions will be kept to a minimum.
If road users encounter traffic disruptions, we ask that they:
- Always be aware of their surroundings
- Obey the directions of police - especially at intersections
- Be patient
- Don’t drive over median strips or perform illegal U-turns
- Recognise that the delay will be for a short period only
ACT Policing thanks Canberra drivers for their understanding as this event occurs.
