Teenager arrested for assaulting police

A 16-year-old female will face the ACT Children’s Court today after assaulting a police officer in Erindale yesterday.

About 4:30pm yesterday (Monday, 1 September 2025) police attended a residence to check the welfare of a 16-year-old female when they received information that the teenager was sighted at Erindale shops.

Police located and spoke with the teenager, who allegedly attempted to leave when she was stopped by police.

The teenager then allegedly assaulted a police officer a number of times, including punching, kicking and biting the officer.

The police officer was taken to the Canberra Hospital for treatment.

The teenager was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where she was charged with multiple offences including five counts of assault frontline community service provider and two counts assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
