ACT Policing has seized cash, drugs, packaged meat and other goods believed to be stolen after a search warrant was conducted at a Moncrieff residence yesterday.

Last month (August 2025) police responded to a report of a possible organised shoplifting syndicate operating at an Amaroo grocery store.

Further investigations identified three people as suspects in multiple shoplifting incidents around the Gungahlin region, with them believed to be responsible for stealing items worth thousands of dollars.

Yesterday (Friday 19 September 2025), police executed a search warrant at a residence in Moncrieff, and seized the following:

  • Approximately 50 grams of methylamphetamine (estimated street value of $25,000).
  • $5,500 of cash suspected to be proceeds of drug trafficking.
  • Several hundred dollars worth of packaged meat and seafood.
  • Mountain bikes including one worth approximately $3,000 that was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary on a bike shop in Mitchell in June (2025).

Two of the three alleged offenders have been identified, with charges expected at a later date.

Over the coming months, ACT Policing will be focusing on retail thefts at all major and suburban shopping centres.

The focus will include uniformed patrols, plain clothes operations and cooperation with Loss Prevention Officers.

Anyone who may have more information regarding these incidents or who may know the identity of the third person in the group is urged to contact Crime Stoppers via the Crime Stoppers ACT website or call 1800 333 000.  Please quote 8147118. Information can be provided anonymously.
