A 17-year-old boy will face court today after allegedly striking a woman with a machete at a shopping centre on Monday.
Police allege at about 6pm on Monday (17 November 2025), multiple teens attended BIG W at the SouthPoint shopping centre in Greenway, when a verbal altercation occurred between the teenagers and a woman in the store.
The 17-year-old allegedly pulled a machete from his pants and threatened to kill the woman before striking her on the arm with it, causing bruising. The teens then fled the scene and police were called.
About 4:15pm yesterday (Tuesday, 18 November 2025), police attended an address in Chisholm and located the boy.
He was arrested and charged with making a reckless threat to kill a person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
He is due to appear before the ACT Childrens Court today (Wednesday, 19 November 2025).
