Three people will face court after allegedly stealing more than $7,000 worth of items from supermarkets, liquor and retail stores over the last 3 months.

About 2pm yesterday (Tuesday, 20 May 2025), a 19-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man entered a shopping centre in Greenway.

The pair entered a grocery store and department store where it is alleged, in both incidents, they stole multiple items valued at more than $400.

Following enquiries, officers arrested the pair at the shopping centre a short time later.

Both are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court next month, charged with two counts of joint commission theft. The man will also face a charge of possessing a knife without a reasonable excuse.

In a separate matter, police executed a search warrant yesterday on a 17-year-old boy’s residence in Kambah following an investigation into a series of thefts.

The boy was identified as a person of interest after allegedly entering multiple liquor and retail stores between March and May (2025) and stealing items valued at more than $6,600.

He is expected to be charged with eight counts of minor theft and four counts of joint commission of theft and will face the ACT Childrens Court in June.
