A 25-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stealing items from the Westfield Belconnen, and breaching a protection order and banning notice.

About 9:30am on Tuesday (27 May 2025), police observed a man walking along Cohen Street with suspected stolen property.

Officers stopped the man and spoke to him before seizing the items and returning them to the store.

After reviewing CCTV footage, police allege the man entered the Westfield Belconnen about 9am that morning, breaching a banning notice issued by the centre, stole over a dozen items from a supermarket, and then entered another store, contravening a workplace protection order.

The man was arrested at his Belconnen home yesterday (Thursday, 29 May 2025) and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with minor theft, contravening a protection order, and trespassing.
