
A 22-year-old Richardson man has been charged with multiple offences following an incident in the City overnight.
About 1am this morning in Garema Place, the 22-year-old man allegedly approached a group of people including his former partner.
He is alleged to have pushed a man to the ground before stomping on his head, rendering him unconscious. Soon after he engaged with two women including his former partner, who he allegedly dragged by the hair and then punched the other woman.
He was engaged by nearby security staff before fleeing the scene to a nearby car park.
Here it is alleged the man allegedly kicked and punched his former partner’s vehicle, causing significant damage.
The man was arrested a short time later by police following his attempted escape and the subsequent deployment of a taser.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, common assault and breaching a good behaviour order. He also faces two family violence charges of aggravated common assault and aggravated property damage. The man is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, 10 March 2025).
