A 40-year-old Narrabundah man will face court tomorrow morning charged with multiple traffic offences after he allegedly failed to stop for police on a stolen dirt bike.

About 9pm last night (Saturday, 14 June 2025), police observed an orange and black KTM dirt bike not displaying a registration plate while travelling on Drakeford Drive in Oxley.

Upon police verbally directing and activating their lights in an attempt to get the bike to stop, the rider – alleged to be the 40-year-old man – rode away and failed to stop.

A short time later police observed the dirt bike dumped on a green belt next to Ashley Drive.

An AFP Canine unit located the man hiding in bushes nearby where he was subsequently arrested. He was subjected to a drug screening test and oral fluid analysis, which the man refused to undertake.

Police checks confirmed the KTM dirt bike was stolen, and the man did not hold a driver’s licence

The man - who was subject to a good behaviour order – will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (16 June 2025) charged with riding a motor vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police, refusing to undergo a screening test, refusing to provide an oral fluid sample, unlicenced driver – licence never held and riding a unregistered vehicle.
