A 54-year-old man will face court today after allegedly importing and 3D printing firearms parts.
In December 2024, police attended the man’s residence in Calwell for an unrelated matter. As a result, the man’s firearms and ammunition were seized and in April this year, his firearms licence was cancelled.
Police will allege between November and December 2024 and in April 2025, the man imported and attempted to import multiple firearms parts from overseas.
The attempted imports were seized by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers and analysed by AFP forensic firearms examiners who determined the parts could be used to construct homemade firearms.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 10 June 2025), officers from Tuggeranong general duties executed a search warrant at the man’s home where they located two 3D printers, 3D printed firearms, inert hand grenades, firearm suppressors and two ballistic vests.
Police also located four replica firearms, firearm magazines, and a large quantity of ammunition.
The man has been charged with five counts of importing prohibited imports, unauthorised possession of firearms, possessing a prohibited firearm, possessing a spare barrel for a firearm and possessing ammunition.
