ACT Policing arrested a Holt man and is seeking witnesses following a road rage incident yesterday where a driver allegedly threatened another driver with a handgun.

About 4.50pm yesterday (Saturday, 31 May 2025) a man in a black Mercedes Sprinter van with ACT registration ‘INKD’ allegedly interacted with the driver of a blue sedan along Parkes Way and Morshead Drive. While on Morshead Drive near Duntroon he allegedly pointed a handgun at the driver of the blue sedan.

Further down Morsehead Drive, the driver of the van allegedly placed a second set of registration plates (YML19N) over the original ones on his vehicle.

Police were contacted soon after and began searching for the Mercedes van.

At about 8.25pm last night, the van was located and stopped at the Glenloch Interchange by officers from General Duties, Road Policing and AFP Tactical Response.

A 48-year-old Holt man was arrested and the firearm (later confirmed to be a full size imitation) was located in the van.

The man is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, 2 June 2025) after being charged with unauthorised use of a prohibited firearm, unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm and using a number plate calculated to deceive.

Anyone who witnessed the incident eastbound on Parkes Way and Morshead Drive yesterday from 4.45pm through to 5.10pm or who engaged with the black Mercedes van after that time is urged to contact police.
