A 36-year-old Chapman man has been charged after a firearm and knife were located in his possession while being treated for minor injuries in a Canberra hospital yesterday.

Around 10.50am yesterday, (Tuesday, 3 June 2025) police attended The Canberra Hospital and located and seized a black pistol and a knife. Police also allege they located four combination lock boxes, digital scales and a number of small plastic ziplock bags.

Police later gained access to the lock boxes and located cash, a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The man, who was the subject of a Good Behaviour Order, was arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm, possess a knife without a reasonable excuse and possess drug of dependence.
