
A 22-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, both from Belconnen, have been charged with serious assault offences after a 14-year-old boy presented to hospital last week with significant injuries.
The boy was taken to the Canberra Hospital on Tuesday, suffering multiple injuries consistent with an assault. On Thursday his status became critical and he was airlifted to specialist children's care in Sydney where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
An investigation was commenced and police received information that the boy was assaulted at a Belconnen home early on Monday morning (23 June 2025).
A search warrant was executed at the home on Saturday (28 June 2025) where a 22-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man (who are brother and sister) were charged with joint commission recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm, and joint commission assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
They are both scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 30 June 2025).
