Man charged with family violence and animal cruelty offences

A 28-year-old Taylor man has been charged after allegedly choking and assaulting his partner and her dog.

On Tuesday (29 July 2025) night, the man allegedly assaulted his partner at their residence, slapping her multiple times.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning (30 July 2025), the man allegedly grabbed the woman by her throat and choked her on two occasions.

That night, the man allegedly also struck the woman’s dog and threatened to kill it by throwing it off the balcony.

The incidents were reported to police and about 8pm last night (Wednesday 30 July 2025) the man was arrested.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday 31 July 2025) charged with two counts of aggravated common assault, two counts of chokes, suffocates, strangles another person, aggravated damage property and cruelty to animals.
