
Police arrested a 34-year-old man from Macquarie yesterday following the discovery of firearms, weapons and drugs in a vehicle in Casey.
At about 3:15am on Sunday (27 July 2025), police patrolling in Casey observed a spray-painted black Mitsubishi Lancer at a service station.
Checks revealed the driver of the vehicle had a suspended licence. He was arrested and when police searched the vehicle, officers located two firearms in a hidden compartment.
A further search uncovered ammunition, prohibited knives, machetes, an axe, and suspected illicit drugs.
The 34-year-old man was charged with three counts of possessing ammunition, two counts of possessing a prohibited firearm, and driving with a suspended licence. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday 28 July).
