A 28-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after her alleged involvement in several burglaries, driving at police, and driving with methamphetamine in her system.
In December 2024, a white Skoda was stolen from a residence in Deakin.
On 28 December 2024, the Skoda was involved in multiple commercial burglaries where cash and cigarettes were stolen.
The 28-year-old woman is alleged to have been involved in those burglaries.
In a separate incident, about 2.20pm yesterday (Friday, 24 January 2025), police observed a black Subaru without registration plates enter the intersection of Gungahlin Drive and Sandford Street, Mitchell contrary to the red light.
The Subaru – allegedly being driven by the woman – was further observed driving erratically and at high speeds through multiple suburbs in North Canberra.
About 2.40pm, police attempted to deploy a tyre deflation device on the vehicle, however the woman allegedly abruptly left the road and drove at an officer narrowly missing them by approximately one metre.
The Subaru continued at high speed onto the Federal Highway where police were able to successfully deploy a tyre deflation device.
Despite this, the vehicle allegedly continued to travel at high speeds and was weaving in and out of traffic, before coming to a stop on Majura Parkway.
The woman underwent roadside alcohol and drug testing which returned a positive result for a prescribed drug.
She was subsequently conveyed back to City Police Station where a secondary sample returned a positive result for methamphetamine.
The woman has been charged with several offences in relation to the two incidents including six counts of aggravated burglary with intent to commit theft, two counts of driving while disqualified, driving at police, drug driving, dangerous driving and breaching a good behaviour order.
ACT Policing is urging anyone with dash-cam footage of the black Subaru yesterday afternoon to come forward.
