Two motorcyclists caught speeding more than 100km/h over the speed limit

A 28-year-old man and 22-year-old man have had their licence’s suspended after they were caught travelling more than 100km/h over the speed limit on their motorcycles yesterday.

About 12.10pm (Saturday 25 January 2025) officers from ACT Road Policing were conducting speed enforcement activity on Cotter Road, Stromlo when they detected two motorcylists travelling at 173km/h in a 70km/h zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and a 28-year-old provisional licence holder and a 22-year-old full licence holder were identified as the riders.

Officers issued the men with immediate suspension notices, suspending their ACT drivers licence’s for 180 days.

They also received traffic infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and, due to the double demerit period, lost twelve demerit points each.
