A 36-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly growing more than 150 cannabis plants inside a Kaleen home.

Yesterday, Major Crime Squad officers executed a search warrant at the residence, locating a sophisticated hydroponic set up cultivating 156 cannabis plants.

Police also observed extensive damage to the interior of the home and evidence of unauthorised electrical work used to bypass the electricity meter.

The man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of a controlled plant, possessing equipment used to cultivate controlled plants, theft, and unauthorised use of electricity.

It is a serious offence to distribute and to cultivate cannabis on a large scale. ACT Policing will continue to target the manufacture, sale, and distribution of illicit drugs in our community.

If you have information regarding the manufacture or sale of drugs in the community, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
