A 35-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting his partner in a moving vehicle, breaching a family violence order, and evading police.

About 12.30pm on Saturday (25 January 2025), police received reports of a red Toyota Corolla being driven erratically by a man in Harrison with a female passenger hanging out of the door.

Police allege the man also struck the woman while driving before she managed to exit the vehicle.

About 11.20am yesterday (Monday, 26 January 2025), police observed the same Toyota Corolla in Watson with two occupants inside.

Officers directed the driver to pull over but he failed to comply, driving away from police and onto the wrong side of the road.

The vehicle and its occupants were later located in Crace. The man attempted to flee in the Toyota again and crashed into a parked car during the pursuit before he was arrested in Palmerston.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with 29 offences, including three counts of contravening a family violence order, two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, forcible confinement, and driving with a prescribed drug in oral fluid.

Police are also appealing for any additional witnesses who saw the red Toyota Corolla or the man and woman around Throsby or Harrison on 25 January to come forward.
