A 53-year-old Oaks Estate man will face court this morning after a neighbourly dispute left another man with a severed finger.
ACT Policing were called to Oaks Estate at around 6.20pm last night after reports two men were fighting at a George Street property.
Arriving at the location, police located one of the men with serious injuries to his right index finger. Paramedics treated the man and identified that the top half of that finger was completely severed. He was subsequently taken to Canberra Hospital.
After a short negotiation, police arrested the neighbour of the man, who they will allege made partial admissions to the attack. Police will further allege the man used a sword during a fight which resulted in the injuries to the victim.
The man was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
