Two drivers have been charged and another has lost his licence after separate drug driving, unlicenced driving, and speeding incidents over the weekend.
About 8.15pm on Friday (21 February 2025), police conducting mobile speed detection along Commonwealth Avenue observed a group of motorcyclists travelling southbound towards Capital Circuit.
One rider was stopped after he was detected travelling at 127km/h in an 80km/h zone.
The 28-year-old Calwell man was issued with an immediate suspension notice and a $1841 infringement.
About 11.15pm on Saturday (22 February 2025), police conducting patrols in Richardson conducted a traffic stop on a blue Suzuki Swift.
The driver, who was subject to bail conditions not to drive, was found to be unlicenced and driving an unregistered vehicle.
The 60-year-old man was subject to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result.
He was conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with being an unlicenced driver, using an unregistered vehicle and having a prescribed drug in oral fluid.
In the third incident, about 12.20am this morning (Monday, 24 February 2024), the driver of a white Toyota Hilux with no registration plates was pulled over in Richardson.
The 28-year-old driver could not produce a licence and checks revealed the vehicle had been unregistered since 2019.
The man is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with driving while disqualified, using an unregistered vehicle, not display provisional plates and not having registration plates attached to the vehicle.
