A 51-year-old Victorian man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly sexually assaulting a girl in the early 2000’s.

Police will allege that the man met and abused the child over a number of years while he was the victim’s soccer coach.

Following an investigation into the matter by ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team, the man was issued with a summons to appear before court today to face five charges of sexual intercourse with a child under 16, and committing an act of indecency on a person under 16.

If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, you can report to police by attending a police station, calling 131 444, or by speaking to the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre on 02 6247 2525.

You can also submit an online report for historical sexual assault for incidents that occurred more than six months ago.
