ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an alleged family violence incident in Tharwa on Sunday afternoon.

About 4.10pm (Sunday, 16 February 2025), a woman and man were travelling along Tharwa Drive in a white Ford Focus when a red Mitsubishi Triton began following the vehicle.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a man known to the woman, pulled in front of the Ford on Smiths Road and stopped across both lanes, blocking the road.

The driver then exited the vehicle and began yelling at the female driver before allegedly stealing the car keys and forcing the woman into the Mitsubishi.

The male passenger called police and was assisted by two witnesses.

Later that evening, police located the vehicle and the two occupants in Tharwa. The man was arrested and charged with offences including theft and forcible confinement.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or the red Mitsubishi Triton being driven in Tharwa yesterday afternoon.

Any witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7978240.
