A 30-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stealing a stranger’s vehicle and driving to his former partner’s home where he threatened to kill her.

About 4pm on Sunday, 9 February 2025, police allege the man approached another man working at a job site and spoke to him briefly before stealing his vehicle.

Later that afternoon, the man attended his former partner’s home and got into a verbal and physical altercation where he threatened to kill her.

Another male occupant attempted to intervene, but police allege the man picked up a motorcycle helmet and used it to strike the other man in the head.

The man fled the scene before police arrived, but he was located and arrested about 7pm that evening.

He is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with intentional threat to kill a person, aggravated common assault, robbery, driving a motor vehicle without consent and driving while disqualified.
