ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) have arrested a 74-year-old man following an investigation into his alleged abuse of a five year old girl.
Police will allege that the man abused the child at his south Canberra residence between 2023 and 2024.
On February 19 (2025), police received a report regarding the alleged abuse and commenced an investigation.
About 3.45pm yesterday (Wednesday, 26 February 2025), police conducted a search warrant at the man’s residence, where they located suspected child exploitation material on his phone.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning where he will be charged with committing an aggravated act of indecency on a child under 10 years old, and possessing child exploitation material.
