A 57-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning after allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill his former partner last week.

On Friday (31 January 2025) the victim was driving her car along Clive Steele Avenue, Monash when she observed the man’s vehicle directly behind her.

As she attempted to make a turn onto the roundabout at Clive Steele Avenue and Isabella Drive, the man pulled out in front of her car and caused it to stop inside the roundabout.

The man exited his vehicle and ran towards the woman’s car, making threats to kill her.

He then allegedly opened the woman’s car door, punched her several times in the face, and attempted to pull her out of the car by her hair.

The woman was able to drive her vehicle away from the man a short time later.

Police attended the man’s residence on Saturday evening where he was subsequently arrested.

He has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentionally threatening to kill a person.
