A 42-year-old Watson man has been charged with multiple driving offences following a police pursuit through inner south suburbs yesterday.

About 11:30am yesterday (Thursday, 21 August 2025) police conducting patrols on John Gorton Drive observed an unregistered grey Mazda 6.

Further checks revealed the owner of the Mazda had a suspended licence and was subject to an arrest warrant.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver allegedly accelerated through a red light to evade police.

The driver allegedly continued to drive in a dangerous manner, driving through red lights and on the wrong side of the road on numerous occasions, placing other road users at significant risk.

Police engaged and disengaged in the pursuit of the vehicle as it drove through inner south suburbs.

During the pursuit, the vehicle’s two front tyres deflated, and the driver continued to drive on the rims.

At about 11:55am, the driver lost control and collided with a timber bollard in Yarralumla.

Police arrested the driver following a short struggle, before he was transported to the ACT Watch House. He subsequently tested positive to the presence of methamphetamine during an oral fluid test.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 22 August 2025) charged with aggravated dangerous driving, drive while licence suspended, use suspended vehicle and breach of a treatment order. He was also subject to the arrest warrant for other matters.
