Police have seized drugs and a machete following the arrest of a repeat drink driver last Sunday in Taylor.

At about 12:45pm on Sunday (24 August 2025), police patrolling in Taylor pulled over a White Volkswagen Golf.

The driver, who has been caught drink driving three times since June, returned a positive roadside screening test, and failed to produce a driver’s licence.

Police observed a machete and bayonet inside the man’s car, which they seized.

He was then transported to Gungahlin Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, returning a reading of 0.171.

The man was issued with his fourth immediate suspension notice, suspending his right to drive in the ACT for a further 90 days.

Yesterday (Monday, 25 August 2025), police executed a search warrant on the man’s car. Officers located approximately 30 grams of suspected methylamphetamine, and 28 buprenorphine strips.

The man has been charged with repeated drink driving and driving with an immediate suspension notice, with further charges expected to be laid.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court next month.
