A 32-year-old man will face court again today for alleged family violence offences he committed in 2022.

About 9:30pm on Sunday, 1 May 2022, a woman, who was the 32-year-old man’s partner, was driving along the Monaro Highway in Symonston.

During this time, the couple had an argument where the man allegedly reached across and jerked the steering wheel causing the vehicle to veer off the road and onto the median strip.

At the time of the incident the woman was eight months pregnant with their child and this incident put her and her child at significant risk.

A short time later, the man allegedly made threats to kill people known to the woman.

Following an investigation in 2022 the man was charged with contravening a family violence order, aggravated interfere with a motor vehicle to endanger the health of a person, interfere with a motor vehicle to cause a person grievous bodily harm and two counts of reckless threat to kill a person.

The man first appeared in court for this incident in 2023, however, since then he has failed to appear in court multiple times. Today (11 April 2025), the man will face the ACT Magistrates Court again for these charges.

ACT Policing stands ready to assist victims experiencing family violence, and works with other law enforcement partners to locate and arrest family violence perpetrators.
