A 45-year-old man will face court today after allegedly choking and slapping his partner during an incident over the weekend.

About 4.50pm on Saturday (5 October 2024), the man allegedly began arguing with the couple’s child while at their home in Fadden.

After his partner intervened and took the child, the man then confronted her, slapping her in the face before choking her.

After the man released his partner, she called police.

Officers attended a short time later and spoke with the woman. The man was arrested in Chisholm later that evening and charged with choking, suffocating, or strangling another person and common assault. He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (7 October 2024).
