A 29-year-old Holt man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with multiple driving offences after he allegedly failed to stop for police in a stolen car.

On 12 September 2024, police were conducting patrols in Flynn, when they had cause to stop a Honda Accord.

Upon seeing police activate their lights in an attempt to get the Honda to stop, the driver – alleged to be the 29-year-old man – accelerated away and failed to stop.

Police then made further attempts to stop the Honda, however the man allegedly drove at the police car before mounting the curb and driving over a nearby green belt in order to evade them.

The Honda was confirmed to be stolen from a residence in New South Wales, and was later located burnt out.

On 3 October 2024, the 29-year-old is then alleged to have smashed a window of a vehicle that was parked at a gym in Bruce, and stole cash and bank cards belonging to the owner.

On 20 October 2024, he is further alleged to have broken into another vehicle that was parked at a residence in Scullin and stole the owner’s wallet containing bank cards.

About 5.15pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 23 October 2024) police located the man at a shopping centre in Belconnen. He was found to be in possession of property belonging to the two owners of the vehicles he allegedly broke into in October.

The man, who was subject to a good behaviour order, has been charged with multiple offences including driving a motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified, and two counts of unlawfully possessing stolen property.
