A 26-year-old Crace man has been charged with 10 offences following a continuing investigation into the sale of cannabis and vapes across Canberra.
In early September, a 24-year-old Vietnamese national was charged with multiple offences and cash, cannabis and vapes were seized after police identified a group responsible for the sale and distribution of cannabis gummies and vapes to people across the ACT.
As part of further investigations into this matter – a search warrant was executed earlier today (Wednesday, 23 October 2024) at a home in Franklin.
There, officers from Gungahlin General Duties seized approximately $19,700 in cash, two mobile phones and other documents linking the Vietnamese national with the man arrested today.
A 26-year-old man was subsequently charged with possess up to 100 times the commercial quantity of vaping goods, supply vaping goods, traffic in a trafficable quantity of cannabis, cultivate a cannabis plant for sale, possess material to cultivate a controlled plant, possess an anabolic steroid, possess a declared substances without authorisation, possess property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, unlawful storage of cannabis and contravening a 3LA order.
The man arrested at the Crace home today previously resided in the Franklin home where a search warrant was executed in early September.
Police will allege the man arrested today had been operating a ‘grow house’ at the Franklin address, where he was cultivating the hydroponically grown cannabis and producing dried cannabis and manufacturing gummies and cookies laced with cannabis. It will also be alleged he was storing more than 600 illegal vapes at this address. The cannabis, cannabis edibles and vapes were then being supplied to the 24-year-old Vietnamese national, who was selling these illicit substances via a mobile delivery service around Canberra.
