Teens to face court over two aggravated robberies

A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl will face the ACT Children’s Court today in relation to their alleged involvement in two robberies over the last month.

On Monday, 28 October 2024, the pair entered a shop in Phillip where the 17-year-old boy allegedly produced a knife and made demands of the shop assistant – stealing a number of vapes and taking off on foot.

About 5.35pm on Saturday, 16 November 2024, the 17-year-old entered a shop in Mawson and once again allegedly produced a knife towards the shop assistant, making threats to kill them.

The boy took off on foot with a sum of cash and cigarettes.

Police arrived shortly after, and observed the 16-year-old girl standing in the vicinity of the store. Police recognised her as one of the alleged offenders from the October incident, and arrested her.

A short time later, the boy was reported to be at a nearby shop in Phillip. Upon police arrival, he was located with a number of stolen items.

The 16-year-old girl, who was subject to a good behaviour order, has been charged with two counts of aiding and abetting aggravated robbery.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, making threats to kill, and breaching his bail conditions.
