A 61-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning following an investigation into his alleged sexual abuse of a girl in 2011.
In 2023 a report was made to ACT Policing relating to historical sexual assault allegations allegedly committed by the man against a 13-year-old girl.
Police will allege the man committed acts of indecency and groomed the girl at his home.
The 61-year-old man was arrested at his residence about 2.00pm yesterday (Tuesday, 19 November 2024).
He is expected to face court this morning (Wednesday, 20 November 2024) charged with three counts of committing an act of indecency on a young person, and grooming a young person.
There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences in the ACT. It doesn’t matter how much time may have passed and it is never too late to report.
If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, you can report to police by attending a police station or calling ACT Policing Communications on 131 444. You can also submit an online report for historical sexual assault for incidents that occurred more than six months ago.
The ACT Policing website has a dedicated section for victims of sexual assault, with information and a range of advice and details of support options.
