A 51-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly breaking into several businesses in one night.

Between 8pm and 3am on Wednesday and Thursday (27 and 28 November 2024), police received reports that several businesses in Mitchell had been broken into, with one reporting thousands in cash had been stolen from the premises.

After reviewing CCTV footage, police identified a blue Ford Fiesta owned by the 51-year-old man was being used to commit the burglaries.

The Ford Fiesta had been reported stolen by the same man earlier that day at Belconnen Police Station.

Police searched the man’s home in Kaleen and located the reportedly stolen Ford Fiesta, clothing matching the items worn in the CCTV footage, and a sum of cash believed to have been stolen from one of the businesses.

The man was arrested and charged with nine counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, two counts of driving unaccompanied as a learner driver, and breaching both his parole and bail conditions.
