Ice skating coach charged with sexual assault offences

A 64-year-old man has been charged with multiple sexual assault offences after a search warrant was executed at his home yesterday.

Yesterday, (Wednesday, 27 November 2024) specialist investigators from ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team attended a residence in Calwell where search warrants were executed.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged with 10 offences including, seven counts of act of indecency with a young person and three counts of sexual intercourse with a young person.

Police will allege the 64-year-old used his role as an established ice skating coach in Canberra to gain access to his victim. The alleged offending for this matter occurred between 2015 and 2016.
