
A suspended 20-year-old P-plate driver will face court next month after being caught speeding and drink driving yesterday morning.
About 1.30am (Thursday, 26 December 2024) police were conducting patrols on Horse Park Drive, Amaroo when they detected a red Mazda 2 travelling at 101km/h in a 60km/h zone.
Police stopped the Mazda and spoke to the 20-year-old driver, who also had two passengers in the vehicle at the time.
The woman was subjected to a roadside alcohol screening test which returned a positive result.
She was subsequently taken to Gungahlin Police Station to undergo a Breath Analysis Test where she recorded a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.140.
The 20-year-old was issued an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending her ACT drivers licence for 90 days, and she was issued an Infringement Notice for $700 and eight demerit points - due to the double demerit period.
She was also served a Court Attendance Notice to appear in the ACT Magistrate’s Court on two charges of drink driving and driving while suspended by law.
