A 28-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly assaulting his partner during an incident last week.

About 3pm on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, police received reports of an altercation occurring at a residence in Denman Prospect.

Police allege the man attacked his partner, strangling her and forcing her to the ground as well as kicking and hitting her several times.

The woman used a pair of scissors to defend herself and stabbed the man in the arm, resulting in minor injuries.

Police and emergency services attended the residence and spoke to the couple before the man was conveyed to hospital.

He was arrested at the hospital a short time later.

He has been charged with 12 counts of aggravated common assault and choking, suffocating or strangling another person.
