A 27-year-old Holt man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning after he allegedly committed several burglaries yesterday.

About 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday, 12 December 2024) the man attended a residence in Campbell where he allegedly forcefully gained entry, stole the resident’s motorbike and left the scene.

The man is believed to have then ridden the motorbike in convoy with a woman in a blue Hyundai Elantra sedan.

A short time later, the man attended a second residence in Campbell where he allegedly rode the motorbike into the front door in an attempt to forcefully gain entry before leaving the premises after being disturbed by the resident.

The man then continued to ride the motorbike in convoy with the woman driving the Hyundai, before they attended a third residence in Campbell.

On arrival, the man allegedly kicked the garage door in and began taking multiple items.

About this time, police were notified of the previous attempted burglary and observed the woman sitting in the Hyundai outside of the third residence in Campbell. When they attempted to engage with her, she accelerated away from the location at high speed.

Police then observed the damage to the garage door and entered the residence to locate the man.

The man was located inside the property shortly after where he was subsequently arrested.  A police officer sustained minor injuries during the process of the arrest.

The man, who was subject to a good behaviour order at the time of the incident, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent, taking a motor vehicle without consent, attempting an aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated burglary, resisting police, and breaching his treatment order obligations.

Anyone with information in relation to the identity of the woman involved in the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7924308.
