A 26-year-old man has been charged with driving offences following a police pursuit in Kambah last night.
About 10.10pm (Friday, 27 December 2024), police conducting patrols in Kambah observed a red Volkswagen Golf weaving in and out of traffic.
Police directed the vehicle to pull over but the driver failed to comply, accelerating rapidly through a red light to evade police.
Officers engaged with the vehicle throughout Kambah until the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.
The 26-year-old man, who was subject to a good behaviour order, was arrested a short time later in the backyard of a nearby home.
He has been charged with failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving under the influence, and driving while disqualified.
He is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (28 December 2024).
