Jervis Bay Road Policing Operation

Police have issued almost 40 traffic infringement notices and 10 vehicle defect notices to Jervis Bay drivers following a weekend of proactive policing.

Between 24-25 August (2024), ACT Road Policing officers visited Jervis Bay and undertook a range of traffic enforcement targeting activities.

Multiple drivers were screened for alcohol and drugs, and unfortunately, two motorists were detected driving while impaired.

One tested positive to a prescribed drug while another was driving with an alcohol level of 0.157. The driver detected for drink driving was towing a boat and preparing for a day of boating on the water.

Both drivers received immediate suspension and court attendance notices.

This activity is a timely reminder that police can be anywhere, anytime. Police also want to remind the community that operating a motor vehicle or boat while impaired by alcohol or drugs is putting theirs and other people’s lives at risk.
