Man to face court charged with forcible confinement and assault

A 23-year-old City man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 1 April 2024) charged with offences including forcible confinement following an incident yesterday morning.

About 4.00am yesterday, police will allege the man unlawfully entered a residence in Scullin.

Once inside the residence, it will be further alleged the man assaulted one of the occupants.

Shortly after, the man allegedly pulled a woman, believed to be known to him, from the residence, before forcing her into his vehicle.

The 23-year-old man then drove the woman back to his residence, where he was arrested a short time later by police.

The man has been charged with forcible confinement, burglary, aggravated common assault, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
