About 1.00 am on Sunday 1 March 1987, 18-year-old Troy Hugh Forsyth was walking home with three friends along Kent Street in Deakin after attending a birthday party at the Croatia Deakin Soccer Club.
When Troy was about 70m north of Carruthers Street, he crossed the road and was fatally struck by a panel van which was driving in a northerly direction along Kent Street.
The driver did not stop and is yet to be identified.
It is believed the vehicle that struck Troy was a blue/green Holden panel van.
Police never found the panel van or its driver, despite an exhaustive search.
